MEMORABLE FAMILY HOLIDAY in NAMIBIA
Kambaku Safari Lodge is an ideal destination for your family safari holiday in Namibia. Spacious rooms with garden view feature separate sleeping and bathing areas, and a family suite provides privacy for parents and children. On request, we can equip your room with baby or extra beds and baby monitors. Parents of younger children will appreciate our nanny service (available upon prior request) to undertake a private tour or other activities.
The lodge's leisure facilities ensure a varied holiday. The big garden offers opportunities to relax, play, enjoy water fun in the swimming pool, and spot wild animals at the waterhole in front of the lodge. Sun loungers, a tranquil area for yoga and meditation, and massages in Kambaku's Bush Spa also cater to those seeking restful relaxation.

LUXURY FAMILY SAFARI HOLIDAYS
If you wish, you can enhance your days with special experiences like privately guided excursions or spa treatments. An extraordinary adventure, for both young and old, is a night in KAMBAKU's Bush Camp. For romantics, we recommend a breakfast in the savannah, following early wildlife encounters on horseback or safari jeeps. Guided tours to destinations nearby, eg. Etosha National Park or Waterberg, offer the chance to spot wild rhinos, elephants and lions.
KAMBAKU is well-known for safaris on horseback. Cantering on red sand to meet the wildlife in the saddle grants life-long memories. Safari rides or training with instructors are available at extra charge. Learn more about our riding offer:

DISCOVER NAMIBIA
Those who want to discover more of the south of Africa, our family safari packages introduce you to beautiful places, including Namibia's charming little harbour town, Swakopmund, at the Atlantic coast right on the edge of the Namibs first sand dunes, the beautiful mountain landscape of the Damaraland or famous National parks like Etosha, that’s just a two hours drive away. We also travel with you the to Namibias “wetland's paradise” way up in the north-east, where species-rich national parks of the Zambezi region guarantee thrilling game encounters for families with teenagers. (Please take note: Tours to the south of Namibia, to visit the most famous and mighty sand dunes of the Namib Desert or the Fish River Canyon, are less suited for travel with young children due to the long distances involved).
Our family safari packages consider the needs of children, ensuring short travel times, wildlife-rich parks, a varied programme with child-friendly activities, and family-friendly lodges. Air-conditioned, off-road capable, and safe vehicles (child seats available on request) as well as licensed tour guides who handle all travel arrangements (e.g., activities, entry fees, meals, lodge check-ins and check-outs) are guaranteed.

YOUR FAMILY SAFARI HOLIDAYS IN NAMIBIABIA
When planning to visit KAMBAKU with your children, we are here to assist you every step of the way. Let us give you an overview of how the planning process for your Namibia family holiday unfolds, right up to your visit:
FROM BOOKING TO DEPARTURE
- Begin by selecting suitable travel dates.
- Decide whether a lodge holiday, with its diverse activities and experiences, meets your dream holiday expectations or if you would like to complement your stay with one of our guided Namibia tours.
- Once you have a clear idea of your preferences for your family safari holidays, check with Marcus, our Lodge Manager, about the availability of rooms in our lodge or tents in the camp. You can use our non-binding booking form to specify experiences that should be part of your Namibia family holiday (e.g., a day trip, a bush camp adventure, horseback safaris, a tour to meet the big five etc.). Please also let us know if you require an airport transfer.
- Concurrently, search for suitable flight connections for your family and coordinate the flight dates with Marcus.
- For both your KAMBAKU holiday booking and flight booking, make sure to purchase a reliable travel cancellation insurance and international travel health insurance for your family.
- After your booking, we will assist you with your travel preparations, such as providing information on entry requirements for kids, weather conditions, visa requirements, recommended vaccinations, payment options (credit cards must be activated for Africa), and more.
AT THE AIRPORT AND DURING THE FLIGHT
- Please follow your airline's guidelines. Often, passengers with children are asked to check in three hours prior departure.
- Keep all necessary documents for traveling with children in an international format or with a certified English translation readily available.
- Pack all electronic devices in your hand luggage.
- Bring toys for the flight and a small pillow.
- Ensure children stay hydrated during the flight. Have a drinking bottle and encourage your kids to drink during the descent and landing (this helps with ear pressure equalization).
- If you have a layover in Cape Town or Johannesburg, South Africa, remember that duty-free purchases may need to be declared or cannot be brought on board the flight to Windhoek.
AT WINDHOEK AIRPORT & ARRIVAL AT KAMBAKU
- Your family safari holiday in Namibia begins at Hosea Kutako International Airport. After your flight, our transfer service will welcome you in the arrival hall and safely drive you to KAMBAKU.
- If you enter without Namibian Dollars (N$), you can withdraw cash from an ATM in the arrival hall using your credit card.
- If you are hungry, a small airport café in the arrivals area offers snacks, drinks, and coffee. You can also stock up on some provisions for the drive to KAMBAKU.
- The drive to KAMBAKU takes approximately 4 hours. There will be a break at a rest stop halfway.
- Upon arrival in the late morning, we welcome you at KAMBAKU, show you your room and the lodges facilities, helping you quickly get oriented.
- After freshening up and settling in, lunch is served in the outdoor kitchen in the lodge garden – and you can start your family safari holiday!
- In the afternoon, you can join our guides for a first safari drive, observe animals, and enjoy a sundowner drink with a view on the Wartenberg Plateau.
DEPARTURE FROM KAMBAKU
- After your stay at KAMBAKU, our transfer service will ensure you reach the airport in Windhoek on time.
- If you have a night flight, you can usually participate in the early morning programme and have lunch before departure.
- For a day flight, we may need to transfer you to Windhoek the evening before. We can help you choose a hotel for the night and book a taxi to the airport (the airport is about 45 minutes from Windhoek).
If you are combining your KAMBAKU holiday with a guided tour through Namibia, your holiday plan may differ slightly from this example. Tours to the desert and coast can start directly from Windhoek and end at KAMBAKU, while others begin after a few days at the lodge and conclude at the airport.
